Maarit Kontiainen is a Helsinki-based visual artist whose family roots are in rural Simpele. Today he lives and works in Helsinki. In his works, the animals of the forest are adventurous in fabulous, dreamy landscapes.
As a technique, Kontiainen uses a wide variety of methods of metal graphics and watercolor.
Kontiainen was graduated as a painter from the Kankaanpää Art School 1987.
He has also studied at the University of Art and Design and the Academy of Fine Arts. Art exhibitions in Finland and abroad since 1984, and he has made study trips for example to Asia and Africa.
